“F1 The Movie” is coming to Texas Motor Speedway.
Speedway Children’s Charities-Texas will extend its efforts to aid those affected by the tragic Texas Hill Country floods by hosting a second Drive-In Movie Night at Texas Motor Speedway on Friday, Aug. 1, with the blockbuster film, “F1 The Movie.”
The feature film starring Brad Pitt will be showcased on Big Hoss, the largest single LED screen of any sports facility in North America, beginning at 8:30 p.m. in the infield of the Fort Worth-based motorsports venue.
Admission will be a minimum donation of $20 per carload and movie fans can access the infield through the speedway’s South Tunnel off Hwy. 114 beginning at 7:30 p.m. SCC will be accepting cash, credit card on movie night or moviegoers can sign up in advance here.
Andy’s Frozen Custard, a partner of Texas Motor Speedway, also will be lending a hand to the relief efforts. Andy’s will be selling product on site with 20 percent of sales going back to SCC-Texas for the relief fund.
SCC-Texas is coming off a successful Drive-In Movie debut on Friday, July 18, with the showing of another summer smash hit, “How to Train Your Dragon.” The event attracted nearly 700 vehicles and more than 2,000 moviegoers, allowing SCC-Texas to raise nearly $21,000 for the Community Foundation of Hill Country, with a focus on supporting children and their families affected by this tragedy. All the proceeds from Drive-In Movie Night featuring “F1 The Movie” will go to the same foundation.
Speedway Children's Charities at Texas Motor Speedway has distributed more than $12.4million in funding to non-profit organizations supporting children in need in Collin, Dallas, Denton, and Tarrant counties since 1997. Distributed funds are raised through special eventsthroughout each year.
“F1 The Movie” is Apple Original Films’ Formula 1® feature film starring Brad Pitt and hailing from director Joseph Kosinski, Jerry Bruckheimer Films, Plan B Entertainment, and seven-time Formula 1® world champion Lewis Hamilton’s Dawn Apollo Films banner. Dubbed “the greatest that never was,” Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) was FORMULA 1’s most promising phenom of the 1990s until an accident on the track nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, he’s a nomadic racer-for-hire when he’s approached by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), owner of a struggling FORMULA 1 team that is on the verge of collapse. Ruben convinces Sonny to come back to FORMULA 1 for one last shot at saving the team and being the best in the world. He’ll drive alongside Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), the team's hotshot rookie intent on setting his own pace. But as the engines roar, Sonny’s past catches up with him and he finds that in FORMULA 1, your teammate is your fiercest competition—and the road to redemption is not something you can travel alone.
In addition to Pitt, “F1 The Movie” stars Damson Idris, Academy Award winner Javier Bardem, Academy Award nominee Kerry Condon, Emmy Award winner and Golden Globe Award nominee Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia and Samson Kayo.
The film is made in collaboration with Formula 1® and the F1® community, including the 10 F1® teams and their drivers, the FIA and race promoters; and is immersed in the exhilarating and cinematic world of F1®, as filming takes place at races on the sport’s calendar.
