INDYCAR and NASCAR fans attending the April 1-2 NTT INDYCAR SERIES/NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series doubleheader weekend at Texas Motor Speedway donated more than $50,000 to Speedway Children’s Charities Texas Chapter to benefit North Texas-area children in need.

Funds were raised during the week through the following events:

  • Bill Walker Memorial Gears & Greens Golf Tournament presented by Premier Truck Group held at the DFW Marriott Golf Club at Champions Circle on March 31
  • 50/50 Raffles on April 1-2

“The generosity shown by our North Texas community makes a lasting impact on local children in need,” said Speedway Children’s Charities Texas Chapter Executive Director Marissa Chaney. “We are so grateful to our sponsors, donors, and race fans who believe in our cause and never cease to support our mission in a big way!”

Since 1997, Speedway Children's Charities Texas Chapter has distributed nearly $12 million in funding to non-profit organizations in Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties supporting children in need. Last December Speedway Children’s Charities’ Texas Chapter distributed $366,000 to 22 local organizations serving 39,118 children in need throughout Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties.

Speedway Children’s Charities Texas Chapter will host a Laps for Charity event at Texas Motor Speedway on Sat., April 22, from 5:00-9:00 p.m. For a $50 tax-deductible donation, race fans and non-race fans alike will have the opportunity to experience the thrill of driving their own vehicle around Texas Motor Speedway. All drivers must be 18 years of age or older and passengers must be at least six years of age. Safety belts must be worn by all occupants. A Texas Motor Speedway pace car will set the speed limit for these single-file, no-passing-allowed laps.
