TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY HIRES INDUSTRY VETERAN DAVID HART AS VICE PRESIDENT OF PUBLIC RELATIONS

TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY HIRES INDUSTRY VETERAN DAVID HART AS VICE PRESIDENT OF PUBLIC RELATIONS

FORT WORTH, Texas (February 11, 2019)

Texas Motor Speedway has hired long-time motorsports public relations executive David Hart as Vice President of Public Relations for the multi-purpose facility, which is set for its 23rd season of racing.

Hart has accumulated a wide variety of experience working for tracks, teams, sanctioning bodies and an agency. He spent the past two seasons as the media relations manager with Furniture Row Racing, last year working with 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Champion Martin Truex, Jr.

“I’ve been fortunate in my career to work for and with some of the best people in the business from just about every angle,” said Hart. “Joining the Texas Motor Speedway staff is the culmination of that experience. I look forward to the challenge of bringing awareness to the facility and the amazing people who create the spectacle of motorsports there.”

Beginning in 1990, Hart spent two seasons as the public relations manager at Speedway Motorsports Inc. (SMI) sister track Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway. He then was media relations manager for the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) in Glendora, Calif., from 1992-94 and spent five seasons with The Cotter Group in Harrisburg, N.C., where he served as an account manager and account representative.

From 2000 through the middle of 2013, Hart was the director of communications for Richard Childress Racing in Welcome, N.C. He was director of communications for the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) in Daytona Beach, Fla., from late 2013 to early 2014 before serving as media relations manager at Weather Tech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif., in 2015-16.

“I think many professionals recognize Texas Motor Speedway as a creative destination because we had interest from a number of folks from a variety of major league sports organizations,” Texas Motor Speedway President/GM Eddie Gossage said. “David’s work rose to the top. This past year he worked with defending Monster Energy NASCAR Cup champion Martin Truex, Jr. He spent years working for Richard Childress Racing. He’s worked at racetracks and sanctioning bodies. His experience seemed to fit us well. We’ve got a big NASCAR triple-header weekend in less than seven weeks. There is work to be done.”

Hart begins his new role at this week’s NASCAR season-opening events in Daytona Beach and will join Media Relations Manager Jake Young at Texas Motor Speedway on Feb. 22.

The 2019 season at Texas Motor Speedway opens March 29-31 with the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 NASCAR tripleheader. The weekend features all three NASCAR series: the Vankor 350 Gander Outdoors Truck Series race Friday, March 29; the My Bariatric Solutions 300 Xfinity Series race Saturday, March 30; and the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race Sunday, March 31. The weekend also features Robby Gordon’s Stadium Super Trucks on both Saturday and Sunday.
