Registration is open for the Speedway Candy Cane Classic Holiday 5k and Reindeer Dash set for Saturday, Dec. 16, at Texas Motor Speedway.

Texas Motor Speedway, in partnership with The Cowtown C.A.L.F., will play host to the event that incorporates the iconic 1.5-mile speedway and the festive Gift of Lights holiday display. Registration for the 5k is $20 for those 17 and under and $30 for 18 and over while the Reindeer Dash is $20 for all ages. Runners and teams can register online by visiting https://raceroster.com/events/2017/13773/speedway- candy-cane-classic-5k-reindeer-dash.

The run, benefitting the Texas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities and The Cowtown C.A.L.F. (Children's Activities for Life & Fitness), includes a lap around the Texas Motor Speedway oval as well as through portions of the Gift of Lights display along the concourse. The Reindeer Dash is a short run down pit road and designed for youngsters interested in participating in the event.

The Reindeer Dash begins at 4 p.m. CT with the 5k scheduled to get underway at 4:45 p.m.

The run also includes all the participants being treated to a holiday movie classic on “Big Hoss,” the world’s largest TV that is located on the speedway’s backstretch and 12 stories tall. “Polar Express” will be shown on “Big Hoss” beginning at 6:15 p.m. and free as part of the registration fee.

For those not participating in the run, they can still enjoy “Polar Express” for $20 per carload. The movie will be set up in a drive-in style with guests watching from their vehicles with an FM channel for audio as well as bringing lawn chairs to sit outside.

Those participating in the run will arrive through the South Tunnel of the speedway and park in the South Paddock. For viewing the movie, cars will be parking on the north side of the infield between Turns 2 and 3.
