RAINGUARD WATER SEALERS 600 INDYCAR BROADCAST ATTRACTS HIGHEST CABLE TV VIEWERSHIP FOR TMS RACE
The Rainguard Water Sealers 600 attracted 561,000 viewers to the live broadcast on NBC Sports Network, the most cable viewers to witness a Verizon IndyCar Series race at Texas since 939,160 households tuned in to ESPN2 for the 2008 race won by Scott Dixon. At the time, that event was the most viewed series race in the history of ESPN2 and carried a 1.0 rating.
The Rainguard Water Sealers 600, which earned a .35 rating, was the highest-rated and most-viewed NBCSN broadcast of the Verizon IndyCar Series at Texas dating to the network’s first broadcast in 2012. The 561,000 also made the race the most-viewed NBCSN-only broadcast since the Verizon IndyCar Series season finale in 2015.
The .35 rating represents a 35 percent increase over the conclusion of the weather-delayed Texas race last year and the 561,000 viewers is a 45 percent increase.
Locally, the 0.95 rating for Dallas/Fort Worth is the highest market rating for a NBCSN broadcast ever and highest cable rating since 2011.
The Rainguard Water Sealers 600 featured 23 lead changes – the third-most in Texas Motor Speedway history for a Verizon IndyCar Series race – and was won by Team Penske’s Will Power.
