FORT WORTH, Texas (November 23, 2015) - Texas Motor Speedway's 1.5-mile oval will become a haven for avid runners once again as Speedway Children's Charities-Texas Chapter and the Cowtown CALF host the Speedway Candy Cane Classic Holiday 5k and Reindeer Dash on Saturday, Dec. 19. 


The Holiday 5k and Reindeer Dash - benefitting both Speedway Children's Charities-Texas Chapter and The Cowtown CALF - will incorporate Texas Motor Speedway's oval as runners in the 5k will take a lap around the track and through the festive Gift of Lights display along the concourse.

The Reindeer Dash will kick off the festivities beginning at 4 p.m., which is followed by the 5k starting at 4:45 p.m. Following the races, runners can enjoy the holiday movie classic "Elf" featuring comedian Will Ferrell and actress Zooey Deschanel on the world's largest, high-definition LED video board. The drive-in style, movie presentation will begin at 6:45 p.m. on "Big Hoss TV" with moviegoers watching from the luxury of their car. Admission for the movie is included in the entry fee while cost is $20 per car for the general public. 

Runners can sign up for the Holiday 5k and Reindeer Dash by visiting www.cowtownmarathon.org. The Reindeer Dash entry fee is $15 until Wednesday, Dec. 16, and then entry fee increases to $20 the day of the event. Entry fees for the Holiday 5k are $15 for children 17 and under and $30 for adults. Entry fees increase for adults to $35 on race day.

Packet pick-up and registration will begin at 3 p.m. in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series garage, the second set of garages once through the South Tunnel to the speedway infield. All registrants will receive a Speedway Candy Cane Classic Holiday 5k and Reindeer Dash long sleeve shirt. 

Runners are encouraged to come dressed in their creative holiday costumes. First- and second-place prizes will be given prizes as part of the "Holiday Cheermeister" Award, given for the best-dressed holiday attire.

Proceeds from the Speedway Candy Cane Classic's Reindeer Dash and 5K will provide educational, financial, social and medical need for area youth. For more information on the event and registration, please visit www.cowtownmarathon.org.
