Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series

We all saw it, and we probably still are trying to decide if it’s true or not.

Justin Haley, the same one who’s a NASCAR Xfinity Series rookie and fresh off a trip to the championship finale in the Gander Trucks in 2018, is a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race winner.

For the first time in 2019 Kyle Busch finished outside the Top-10 in a Cup Series race at Kansas. In fact, it was his first finish outside the Top-10 in any NASCAR race this year, a run of 19 straight (with 10 of those being wins). His last Cup start outside the Top-10 was actually a 17th place showing at Texas Motor Speedway last November.

It started with Denny Hamlin’s first Daytona 500 win in 2016. Toyota drivers teamed up in a manufacturer-first mindset, and it was the Joe Gibbs Racing driver leading his manufacturer in a 1-2-3 finish with Martin Truex Jr. and Kyle Busch following behind.

Anyone involved in racing (from driving to commentating to watching on the couch) has heard the argument that drivers aren’t athletes.

Hamlin rallied to score the 33rd win of his Cup career by 2.743-seconds over Clint Bowyer of Stewart-Haas Racing in the 23rd annual O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.
