FORT WORTH, Texas (March 26, 2020) - What started as a novel way to give race fans a dose of sports during the COVID-19 crisis has expanded to include Texas Motor Speedway on its scheduled NASCAR Cup Series race day, Sunday, March 29.
The postponed O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 weekend will be rescheduled, but in the meantime fans get the chance to see many of their favorite drivers on iRacing's newest scan of The Great American Speedway, virtual-style. Green flag for the O'Reilly Auto Parts 125 is scheduled for Sunday at 12:00 p.m. CT on FOX, FS1, and the FOX Sports app.
Fans watching at home will be able to win too, though it won't involve taking the checkered flag. TMS is hosting an eWatch-N-Win event on Twitter
, inviting fans to answer trivia questions throughout the race with a select number of correct responses receiving prizes, including one-of-a-kind Texas Motor Speedway-themed autographed memorabilia.
Drivers from the NASCAR Cup Series complemented by those from the NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck series, and ARCA Menards Series, as well as some of the sport's past greats fill the field, which will be finalized by NASCAR on Friday.
The FOX NASCAR broadcast team of Jeff Gordon, Mike Joy, and Larry McReynolds returns to action live from the FOX studio in Charlotte with Cup veteran Clint Bowyer providing commentary from his virtual driver's seat. They plan to do so for at least as long as the race season remains on hiatus. FOX will broadcast all events on its broadcast network and on the FOX Sports app. Races will be available in Canada on FOX Sports Racing.
The first eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series event last Sunday featured Denny Hamlin passing Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the final lap at virtual Homestead-Miami Speedway for a dramatic win. The race drew 903,000 viewers on FS1, the top program of the week on that network. It also received the most Twitter interactions of any TV program on Sunday.
