Universal Technical Institute Friday Night Drags is heads-up, street-style drag racing. Racing is held on the one-eighth-mile pit road. Drag racers compete for nightly divisional plaques and also accumulate points for the season. At the end of the 6-week season, divisional champions will be crowned and earn a championship plaque and other prizes provided by the sponsors including Snap-on Tools.

Admission is only $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under in the grandstands. Parking at Gate 6 is free!  

Feel like being adventurous? Take part in the In-N-Out Burger Show-N-Shine Parade Lap. For only $20, drive your own car around Texas Motor Speedway.

Coolers are welcome, but no glass please.

Spectator Information

  • Parking is FREE outside Gate 6
  • Coolers are allowed (no glass)
  • Camp Chairs are permitted 
  • Torchy's Tacos will be open in the infield to all fans
  • Grandstand tickets permit access to the infield via the Barr Tunnel

In-N-Out Burger Show-N-Shine

  • Located in the Infield
  • Participate in the Nightly Car Show (optional)
  • Prizes Award for Best in Show, Best Classic (1972 or prior) & Best Current Custom (1973 or newer)
  • Drive your own car around the 1.5 mile speedway in the parade lap

Drag Racing General Rules

  • All drivers must have a helmet. Helmets can be rented night of for $10.
  • All vehicles MUST have stock frames.
  • No tube chassis, back-half, wheelie bars or parachutes are allowed.
  • Bolt on chassis components allowed.
  • Drag radials allowed in all classes (Cannot say not intended for highway use).
  • Drag slicks allowed in Outlaw and Black Smoke Warrior divisions ONLY.
  • Nitrous allowed in Outlaw and Black Smoke Warrior divisions ONLY.
  • All cars require current registration EXCEPT Outlaw and Black Smoke Warrior divisions.
  • All qualified vehicles will be placed in one of seven classes by Tech.
  • Electric vehicles are not allowed.

Division Specifications

FASTSIGNS Bandit Division – Foreign and domestic cars with three (3), four (4) or five (5) cylinders with or without factory turbo or supercharger; six (6) cylinders with naturally aspirated engines.

Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Division - Foreign and domestic cars with eight (8) cylinders naturally aspirated, six (6) cylinder cars with factory turbo or supercharger; NO engine modification allowed.

Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Modified Division – Foreign and domestic cars with six (6) cylinders with aftermarket turbo or supercharger; eight (8) cylinders naturally aspirated with internal modifications, i.e. aftermarket heads, cam, etc. Maximum tire size is 28"x10.5" drag radials. Must be D.O.T. approved.

Super Car Division – Foreign and Domestic cars with factory authorized upgrades from the likes of Hennessey, Lingenfelter, Roush, Shelby, etc.; engine modification, turbo or supercharger allowed.

Snap-on Tools All Wheel Drive Division – Foreign and domestic all-wheel drive cars with four (4) or more cylinders.

Texas Born Performance Black Smoke Warrior Division – All diesel powered or gas powered trucks, and all wheel drive SUVs; any size all-terrain tire allowed; maximum 31" x 10.5" (drag slicks); 31" x 12.5" (drag radials) size tires. Must be D.O.T. approved.

Summit Racing Equipment Outlaw Division – Any car with stock appearing body; suspension modification allowed; any engine modification allowed; maximum 31" x 10.5" (drag slicks); 31" x 12.5" (drag radials) size tires. Must be D.O.T. approved.

A VEHICLE CAN BE DISQUALIFIED AT ANY TIME IF DEEMED UNSAFE OR BECAUSE OF DRIVER OR CREW MEMBER CONDUCT. THE FINAL CLASSIFICATION DECISION WILL BE MADE BY TECH DEPARTMENT
