The AAA Texas 500 is the eighth race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, a make-or-break event on the march to the championship. Tony Stewart turned victory in the AAA Texas 500 into the key point on the timeline to the 2011 Sprint Cup championship. Stewart set the pace for 173 tours of “The Great American Speedway!” and capitalized when leader Jeff Burton ran out of fuel with five laps remaining. Stewart bested title contender Carl Edwards by 1.092 seconds at the checkered flag for his second Lone Star State Sprint Cup victory.
