Overall, 1,527 entries turned out during the season at Texas Motor Speedway. Two single night participation records were also set (265 in Week 1 and 293 in Week 2) as four of the six events featured more than 240 competitors. Each of the seven division champions won a Snap-On roll cart inscribed with the division they won.
During the six weeks, racers collected points with three points going to the weekly winner, two to the runner-up and one to all other competitors. Racers with perfect attendance received a two-point bonus and the racer accumulating the most points during the season was crowned champion.
Here are the Week 6 winners, along with the division champions and what they had to say about winning the championship:
Reunion Tower Geo Deck Bandit Division
Week 6 Winner: Sean Hemphill / Dallas / 2016 Porsche 911 GTS
Champion: Jesse Cecenas / Haltom City / 1999 Honda Civic. "It means a lot to keep this going every year. That's why I like to come out here and compete. It's awesome. It's (Snap-On roll cart) definitely going to go in the garage and it's definitely something to come back here for and compete again."
Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Division
Week 6 Winner: Jonathan Sullivan / Dallas / 2016 Cadillac ATSV
Champion: Jonathan Sullivan / Dallas / 2016 Cadillac ATSV. "Winning the championship, I wouldn't have wanted to win it any other way going up against the No. 1 guy. It was well worth it in my opinion. It's a blast (racing during Friday Night Drags). I love coming out here racing, whether I win or lose. It's just a blast to be able to come out and do it and have fun."
Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Modified Division
Week 6 Winner: Chris Thompson / Richland Hills / 1932 Ford Coupe
Champion: Chris Thompson / Richland Hills / 1932 Ford Coupe. "I've been trying to win for three years and I guess this is my year. It's a lot of hard work. You don't just buy a car, you build a car. That's the difference you have fun with it. You put it together and I made it the best I could and obviously it worked."
Texas Lottery Super Cars Division
Week 6 Winner: Wes Coleman / Arlington / 2013 Cadillac STS
Champion: Gene Griffith / Fort Worth / 2015 Chevrolet Z06. "It was a tough season this year, a lot of fast cars in our division. I'm really happy to win. They've done this three different years and have had three different winners. A lot of my friends come out here; we race against each other every week. I think it's an awesome event - I wish it lasted a few more weeks."
Snap-On Tools All Wheel Drive Division
Week 6 Winner: Glenn Twardowsky / Euless / 1991 Eagle Talon
Champion: Glenn Twardowsky / Euless / 1991 Eagle Talon. "I'm just proud that I won. It's been a long road. I've never won here before and it's been a goal of mine for three years. I finally got it done. It's a good feeling."
4 Wheel Parts Black Smoke Warrior Division
Week 6 Winner: Charles Carey / Azle / Dodge Ram 3500
Champion: Clay Stewart / Weatherford / 2008 Ford F250. "It means everything. We spent a lot of time building the truck - it took about an eight-month process. I didn't make it once here last year because the truck was under the building process. I'm stoked. During the summer this is what we look forward to. Every Friday, we wrap up at the shop a little early and get ready to come out. It's a fun time. It's for fun and that's what we do."
Summit Racing Equipment Outlaw Division
Week 6 Winner: Shea Thompson / Fort Worth / 1988 Ford Mustang
Champion: Shea Thompson / Fort Worth / 1988 Ford Mustang. "It was a lot of work, honestly. Day in and day out I had a lot of my friends help me work on the car to get it out here. Honestly, I'm glad it's over with at this point. I'm glad I got this baby (Snap-On Tool Box). It's good because I've had bad luck all year. I'm speechless at this point."
The popular Hills Air Support Show-N-Shine accompanied the racing each week. Car enthusiasts, some as far as Wichita Falls, proudly displayed their prized vehicles for the chance to earn the title of Best In Show. The Week 6 winners were:

Next year will mark the 10th season of Friday Night Drags. The event's core mission is to curtail illegal street racing in the Dallas/Fort Worth area by offering a safe and controlled environment. Recent studies show crashes are the leading cause of death for people between the ages of 15 and 20 and an average of 135 people die in the United States annually in street racing-related accidents.
