WEDNESDAY’S FULL-FIELD VERIZON INDYCAR SERIES TEST AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
FORT WORTH, Texas (April 11, 2017) – Fans will get a sneak preview of the Verizon IndyCar Series as the full-field open test session Wednesday at Texas Motor Speedway is open and free to the general public in The Speedway Club grandstands.
All the biggest names in the sport, including three-time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves of Team Penske and four-time series champion Scott Dixon of Chip Ganassi Racing Teams, will take part in the test that will have a morning session from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and another in the afternoon from 3-6 p.m.
The 22 drivers scheduled to test are Simon Pagenaud, Josef Newgarden, Will Power and Castroneves of Team Penske; Tony Kanaan, Max Chilton, Charlie Kimball and Dixon of Chip Ganassi Racing Teams; Marco Andretti, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Takuma Sato of Andretti Autosport; Alexander Rossi of Andretti Herta Autosport with Curb-Agajanian; Graham Rahal of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing; James Hinchcliffe and Mikhail Aleshin of Schmidt Peterson Motorsports; Ed Carpenter and JR Hildebrand of Ed Carpenter Racing; Conor Daly and Carlos Munoz of A.J. Foyt Enterprises; Sebastian Bourdais and Ed Jones of Dale Coyne Racing; and Gabby Chaves of Harding Racing.
The Speedway Club grandstands located in Turn 1 will be open for fans to watch the Indy-car drivers take their first competitive laps on Texas Motor Speedway’s repaved and re-profiled 1.5-mile layout. Fans will access those grandstands through the main entrance of The Speedway Club building (3545 Lone Star Circle, Fort Worth) and then will be directed to the fourth floor. No coolers will be permitted.
The Speedway Club also will serve a Chef’s Table lunch buffet from 11:30 a.m.–2 p.m. on the 8th floor that will be available to those fans visiting at $15 per person.
Free parking will be available in the Crystal Lot directly across from The Speedway Club.
The teams will be getting their first look at Texas Motor Speedway in preparation for the Rainguard Water Sealers 600 Verizon IndyCar Series race on Saturday, June 10. In addition to a full repave, Turns 1 and 2 had the banking reduced from 24 to 20 degrees and the racing surface expanded from 60 to 80 feet.
