LOGANO EARNS XFINITY SERIES POLE
Joey Logano raced to his third career NASCAR XFINITY Series pole at Texas Motor Speedway - and first since 2014 - during knockout qualifying for Saturday afternoon’s My Bariatric Solutions 300.
Logano toured TMS’ repaved and re-profiled 1.5-mle oval during Sports Day Powered by The Dallas Morning News in 28.013 seconds and 192.765 mph in the No. 12 PPG Ford Mustang fielded by Penske Racing. Logano moved from the third spot after Round 2 to bag his second pole and third top-10 start of the season. The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series star earned his 33rd pole in 162 XFINITY starts.
Erik Jones, who topped the time sheet after Round 2, qualified second at 28.086 seconds and 192.267 mph in his No. 20 GameStop/GAEMS Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing.
Rounding out the top 12, respectively, were Austin Dillon, Round 1 leader Ryan Blaney, rookie William Byron, rookie Cole Custer, rookie Daniel Hemric, Darrell Wallace Jr., Ryan Reed, series point leader Elliott Sadler, Tyler Reddick and Ty Dillon.
Byron, driver of the No. 9 Axalta/Priefert Chevrolet Camaro, is the highest-qualified series regular.
Scheduled for 200 laps/300 miles, the My Bariatric Solutions 300 will start at 12:30 p.m. CT (TV: FOX, Radio: PRN, Sirius XM Channel 90 and 95.9 FM The Ranch).
