STREET OUTLAW CAR PROVES UNBEATABLE DURING WEEK 4 OF FRIDAY NIGHT DRAGS

FORT WORTH, Texas (July 18, 2016) – Street Outlaw Division leader Trent Savage’s absence from last weeks Friday Night Drags presented by Maaco ended his winning streak. However, it didn’t stop his prized 2001 Pontiac Trans Am from earning another trophy.

Savage’s brother Blake from Crowley piloted the hot rod to victory during Week 4 of Friday Night Drags presented by Maaco. The car – shooting its signature flames flying down the drag strip – once again proved to be unbeatable as it cruised to its fourth win of the season.

A pair of drivers extended their winning streaks as Lucas’ Chris Brown (2013 Nissan GT-R) in the Snap-On Tools All-Wheel Division and Fort Worth’s Mike Franks (2011 Cadillac CTS-V) in the American Steel Carports Supercar Division were victorious. Brown won for the third consecutive week while Franks extended his winning streak to two.

Alvarado’s Jeremy Clark (1989 Chevrolet Silverado) edged out fellow championship competitor Shawnee Haggard in the 4 Wheel Parts Black Smoke Warrior Division to earn his second victory of the season. Three first-time winners round out the list of Week 4 champions that include Trophy Club’s Forest Spetter (2007 Lotus Elise) in the The Speedway Club Tuner Division; Southlake’s Sam Weir (2009 Infiniti G37) in the Reunion Tower Geo-Deck Street Bandit Division; and Arlington’s Merza Kovacevic (2009 BMW 335i) in the Sportsman Division.

Winners in the Hills Air Support Show-N-Shine were Keller’s Tyler Morgan (1969 Chevrolet Camaro) for Best in Show; Arlington’s Ben Little (1931 Ford Sedan) for Best Classic; Fort Worth’s Mike Williams (2002 Chevrolet Corvette C5) for Best Current; and Fort Worth’s Kevin Shaw (2007 Harley-Davidson Softail Deuce) for Best Motorcycle.

The six-week summer series that converts Texas Motor Speedway’s pit road into a 1/8-mile drag strip continues Friday for Week 4. The gates open each week at 6 p.m. with inspection, practice and Hills Air Support Show-N-Shine beginning at 6:15 p.m. Drag racing competition gets underway at 9:15 p.m.

The cost is $20 to participate in the drag racing or Hills Air Support Show-N-Shine competition each week. For spectators, general admission grandstand tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under and available at the Gate 6 ticket booth or online at www.texasmotorspeedway.com. Coolers are permitted in both the grandstands and infield.
