FRIDAY NIGHT DRAGS PATRIOTIC THEME INCLUDES FIREWORKS, DISCOUNT FOR MILITARY, LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS
FORT WORTH, Texas (June 30, 2015) – Texas Motor Speedway will ring in the Fourth of July weekend with fast cars and fireworks, all part of a patriotic theme for the third week of Friday Night Drags presented by Snap-On Racing.
>Texas Motor Speedway will celebrate Independence Day with a special fireworks show on Friday, beginning at approximately 10:15 p.m. CT, as part of DSG Arms Law Enforcement and Military Appreciation Night at Friday Night Drags presented by Snap-On Racing. Any active or retired military or law enforcement officers presenting a valid ID will receive free grandstand admission for them and up to three additional guests for the evening’s activities.
Levy Restaurants will join in the patriotic theme with a red, white and blue funnel cake for $5. The four-inch funnel cake is topped with whipped cream, strawberries and red, white and blue sprinkles. Other food items on hand include tater twisters, corn nachos, roasted corn on the cob or corn cup, snow cones and more.
Friday Night Drags presented by Snap-On Racing, a six-week summer series, offers car enthusiasts the opportunity to race down Texas Motor Speedway’s pit road, which is transformed into a 1/8-mile drag strip. Each week, competitors race for a trophy and points, which are tallied at the conclusion of the final weekend to ultimately crown the season champion. Cars are divided into seven different divisions that consist of Tuner, Street Bandit, Sportsman, SNL Performance Super Cars, AWD Tuning All-Wheel Drive, DSG Arms Black Smoke Warrior and B&G Mufflers Street Outlaw.
Coupled with drag racing, cars and motorcycles both past and present are on display to win top honors in four different categories (Best of Show, Best Classic-1972 or earlier, Best Current Custom-1973 to current, Best Motorcycle) during the Hills Air Support Show-N-Shine.
Gates open at 6 p.m. CT with inspection, practice and the Hills Air Support Show-N-Shine beginning at 6:15 p.m. Drag racing competition gets underway at 9 p.m.
The cost is $20 to participate in the drag racing or Hills Air Support Show-N-Shine competition. For spectators, general admission grandstand tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under and available at the Gate 6 ticket booth. Parking is free in the PSL lot outside Gate 6 and also available for $20 in the infield (with admission included in the pricing). Coolers are permitted in both the grandstands and infield.
