Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series

Playoff contender Denny Hamlin rode his “out-lap” to the top of the speed chart during Saturday afternoon’s final practice for the AAA Texas 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race.

Record-setting polesitter Kurt Busch continued to show the way around Texas Motor Speedway Saturday afternoon, topping the speed chart during the weekend’s second Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice for the AAA Texas 500.

Kurt Busch led a five-driver assault on the 200 mph barrier with a track-record lap in 26.877-seconds at 200.915 mph. Busch secured his first Coors Light Pole Award of the season and second in 30 races at TMS .

While Kyle Busch locked up a berth in NASCAR’s Championship 4 with his win at Martinsville Speedway last Sunday, Martin Truex Jr. still is viewed by many observers as the driver to beat.
