The final race of the Chase will feature two championship favorites and two underdogs.
Who will have the edge next week at Homestead-Miami Speedway?
Here’s a look at NASCAR’s final four title contenders:
Total wins: 1 Top-5s: 7 Top-10s: 17 Chase wins: 0 Chase finishes: 6th, 37th, 12th, 7th, 9th, 18th, 8th, 10th. Homestead: Hamlin was just trying to get to this race, and now that he’s there, he may have the advantage. Hamlin has two wins, four top-fives and five top-10s in nine races at Homestead, including a win in last year’s race. He struggled in the first half on 1.5-mile tracks, but has improved in the second half, scoring four straight top-10s.
Total wins: 5 Top-5s: 16 Top-10s: 22 Chase wins: 2 Chase finishes: 4th, 1st, 4th, 1st, 4th, 11th, 5th, 12th, 6th. Homestead: Logano has run just five races at Homestead and hasn’t had much luck, scoring just one top-10 finish (eighth last year). He won the pole in 2012 but faded to 14th at the finish. That may not mean much, though. He leads all drivers with two wins and six top-five finishes on 1.5-mile tracks. He struggled in the last one, however, finishing just 12th at Texas.
Total wins: 0 Top-5s: 4 Top-10s: 15 Chase wins: 0 Chase finishes: 15th, 18th, 8th, 6th, 7th, 5th, 3rd, 15th, 11th.
Homestead: Newman does not have a great record at Homestead, with just one top-five and four top-10s in 12 races, but he’s never been in a championship battle there before. His best career points finish is sixth, which he’s guaranteed to top. He’s been solid on 1.5-mile tracks this year with five top-10s and a worst finish of 16th.
Total wins: 4 Top-5s: 13 Top-10s: 19 Chase wins: 2 Chase finishes: 5th, 3rd, 13th, 12th, 1st, 9th, 33rd, 2nd, 1st. Homestead: Harvick has never won at Homestead, but has been extremely consistent, with five top-fives and 11 top-10s in 13 races. He has six straight top-10s there. He has been strong on 1.5-mile tracks this year, with a win and three runnerup finishes. He has finished first and second in the last two races on intermediate ovals.
