FORT WORTH, Texas (June 6, 2014) - Defending Verizon IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon recorded the fastest lap in Friday's final practice for the Firestone 600 at Texas Motor Speedway.
Dixon (No. 9 Target Chip Ganassi Chevrolet), starting seventh in Saturday night's Firestone 600, ran a lap of 213.215 miles per hour in the final 30-minute session to lead his Ganassi teammates in a sweep of the top three fastest laps.
Tony Kanaan (No. 10 Suave for Men Chevrolet) was second at 213.187 mph and Ryan Briscoe (No. 8 NTT DATA Chevrolet) was third at 212.909 mph.
Rounding at the top five fastest laps -- all by Chevrolet -- was Team Penske's Will Power (No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet), the Firestone 600 polesitter, at 212.800 mph and Ed Carpenter (No. 20 Fuzzy's Vodka/Ed Carpenter Chevrolet) at 212.598 mph.
The Firestone 600 Verizon IndyCar Series race will start at 7:30 p.m. CT Saturday.
