The state of the "economy" is a scapegoat and excuse used by a lot of people for a lot of things, usually to cover up their own mismanagement and greed. In my opinion, the stands are empty because the races are boring and the rules are chaotic. I have been a NASCAR fan since 1981. Maybe it's time to take a five year rest.....sell the PSL's for half-price... and get out............The new fan base will not sustain longevity.............

From someone who is used to working hard making good money, I respectfully disagree. Being LAID OFF at Christmas time, I have not been able to do the things that I have been able to do in recent years. We are blessed with a house that is paid for. We are blessed many things that we have worked hard over the years for. The jobless rates do not lie. You can't say people are using that for an excuse. They say that because it is the TRUTH.
Firemaul, I have been a fan since the late 80s. Maybe I am a new fan, but I am not going away. I have personally witnessed people convert to Nascar within the last 2 years and they are as diehard as I am. Its not a "good ole boy" sport anymore, even though I consider myself as a "good ole boy".

I was referring to the powers to be and others using the economy as an excuse....not "ALL" people.....I am definitely not rich and one that is exempt from these tough times. I have been going to TMS with a group since it opened, camping out every year. Our group has gone from 50 to 12. I only hear the comments in my camp and the others around us over the years.. Maybe we like it the way it was..... We are a cross-section of the fan base. The prices have increased a lot over the years. I don't pull out the debit card every year without giving it a thought.
the past is the past and nothing will ever be the same especially the past.live in the day and it will go easier.
sorry that is how i feel i pinch pennies every year to go and i wouldnt change a thing ill do it next year and there after. i dont rob peter to pay paul. i have a ton of friends and a great famliy. but there is something special about my nascar famliy they care about me and the sport.forever we will be.

I try to. I love football....If they ever put a rule in place in the NFL that you cannot touch the quarterback or you will ejected from the game, I will probably stop watching it. I know things evolve over the years. Like anything, if you don't enjoy it anymore, move on to something else.... Tom, I will let you know if I move on after 2010!!!
