Fans looking for the signature No. 10 car of three-time defending IZOD IndyCar Series champion Dario Franchitti during the Indianapolis 500 will have trouble finding him. To help celebrate the 50th anniversary the team’s sponsor Target, Franchitti will change his car number to No. 50 for the race.... The single-car teams of Panther Racing with driver JR Hildebrand and Dreyer & Reinbold Racing with Oriol Servia announced that they will work in conjunction with each other for the season to form Panther DRR. For the Dreyer & Reinbold Racing camp, it means a move from Lotus engines to Chevrolet, beginning with the Indianapolis 500.... Fort Worth’s Johnny Rutherford has been recognized by the INDYCAR Ministry as the organization will award the inaugural “Lone Star Johnny Rutherford Award” during its Indianapolis 500 Breakfast on Saturday, May 26, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Rutherford, a three-time Indy 500 winner and member of the Texas Motorsports Hall of Fame, has been a staple in the sport as he serves as pace car driver for the IZOD IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights events. The award will be presented to an IndyCar participant who exemplifies outstanding character, integrity and leadership in the home, at the track and in the community.... Carl Edwards’ appearance on this past weekend’s Nationwide Series telecast on ESPN2 won’t be his last. Edwards is scheduled to appear in the booth for the Nationwide Series race at Kentucky Speedway on Friday, June 29. Edwards opted not to compete full-time in the Nationwide Series in 2012, instead focusing his full attention on pursuing his first championship in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
