NASCAR can be your valentine on Valentine’s Day thanks to FOX Sports 1. Following live coverage of Friday’s opening day of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice at Daytona International Speedway, the network will deliver a three-and-a-half-hour block of prime-time NASCAR programming on Valentine’s Day evening. FOX Sports 1 premieres FOX Sports 1-on-1: Jimmie Johnson (6:30-7 p.m. CT), The Day: Daytona Primetime (7-8 p.m. CT), Return of the 3 (8-9 p.m. CT) and an encore presentation of the 2011 documentary The Day: Remembering Dale Earnhardt (9-10 p.m. CT). … 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski surprised several military veterans at the Phoenix VA Health Care System last week when he visited the facility and provided them tickets to the March race at Phoenix International Raceway. Keselowski joined a group of veterans for lunch and visited with several others as he toured the hospital. He thanked each of the veterans for their service, and as a token of gratitude offered them complimentary race tickets on behalf of his charitable foundation. … Jeb Burton, coming off a strong NASCAR Camping World Truck Series rookie campaign that included his first career win coming in last June’s WinStar World Casino 400 at Texas Motor Speedway, suddenly found himself scrambling for a ride for the upcoming season. Burton, the talented son of former Daytona 500 winner Ward Burton, lost his No. 4 ride at Turner Scott Motorsports after the NCWTS program was shut down when its primary sponsor defaulted on payment. He will compete for ThorSport Racing, which also has reigning series champion Matt Crafton and Johnny Sauter, and drive the No. 13 entry for the season-opening NCWTS race at Daytona on Friday, Feb. 21. Any additional races for Burton with ThorSport have yet to be announced and likely will hinge on sponsorship. Burton won one race and seven poles last season en route to a fifth-place finish in the NCWTS championship. … Frisco’s David Starr has joined TriStar Motorsports for the upcoming NASCAR Nationwide Series season, beginning with the season-opening DRIVE4COPD 300 at Daytona on Saturday, Feb. 22. The 46-year-old veteran has competed in all three NASCAR national series, but has primarily run in the Camping World Truck Series where he has four wins in 317 starts. Starr has run in 27 Nationwide events, including two races last season. During the 2014 season, Starr will have a concentrated effort in the Nationwide Series. "I’m excited for the opportunity to race in the NASCAR Nationwide Series," Starr said. "This will be a bit of a change from racing in the Camping World Truck Series, but I’m excited and eager for a new challenge." Starr joins TriStar Motorsports drivers Mike Bliss, Blake Koch, Jeff Green, Eric McClure and Will Kimmell for the upcoming season. … Rapper 50 Cent is bringing his audio line into NASCAR through his new partnership with Swan Racing. The rapper – born Curtis Jackson – will have branding for his SMS Audio line on both of Swan Racing's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series entries. The logos also will be on the uniforms for drivers Parker Kligerman and Cole Whitt and they will be featured on Swan-branded SMS Audio headphones. The partnership also calls for 50 Cent to make appearances at races throughout the upcoming season.
