Last season, the Port-A-Cool Texas World Dirt Track Championship started out with a bang for late model driver, Shane Hebert of Lafayette, La., as the cajun newcomer in the division, charged from 14th-starting position to capture the win. That is not surprising for Hebert, who remarkably won his first late model race, in his very first late model start in April 2012 -a feat rarely accomplished. After appearing in Victory Lane at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track, Hebert grabbed four more wins on the P&W Sales Southern United Professional Racing Series' tour to conclude 2013.
Now anchoring six career SUPR Dirt Late Model victories, Team Allgayer's star driver is set to defend his title at TMS, bringing a new Bob Pierce/Mullins Late Model into this year's fray. "I can't help but go back a year ago and think about how awesome it was to wear that cowboy hat for the first time," says Hebert.
"Making laps around Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track is nothing short of spectacular, I can't wait until March to do it all over again and see what we can do to bring that hat back to Louisiana again," Hebert added.
Hebert capped last season in second-place of the P&W Sales SUPR Series Championship.
The quest is now on to go back-to-back in the late model division at TMS, plus Hebert will also try to dethrone John Whittington of Vidor, Tex., in the limited modified class, of this year's Texas World Dirt Track Championships.
Looking forward to some great racing this weekend, people! See ya there!
