Ryan Newman

Simply known as the “Rocketman,” Ryan Newman earned his nickname with his amazing qualifying speeds during his career. He set the record for most poles in a rookie NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season with six in 2002. The following year he earned a career-best and season-high 11 poles, officially giving him his nickname. Newman, driver of the No. 39 Quicken Loans/Outback Steakhouse/Haas Automation Chevrolet for Stewart-Haas Racing, earned rookie-of-the-year honors in his first full-time Sprint Cup Series season. His most memorable win came while driving for Penske Racing in 2008 when he won the Daytona 500. Newman has qualified for the Chase for the Sprint Cup four times in his career entering the 2013 season.

got lucky that Ryan Newman was in the position he was in to save my car from multiple barrel rolls. He considers himself an innocent bystander who was in the wrong place at the worst time. There’s nobody to blame ... I can’t even blame NASCAR for it. It’s just when it’s a free-for-all like that at the end of the race, you have to expect bumping and grinding.

A guy watches you practice and I did about 75 laps and the guy thought I did a good job and so he approved me and told the guy at ARCA how I did ... That is how I got into the ARCA. I didn’t know I would be racing in the ARCA this year. However, one of my sponsors decided he wanted to be a car owner and bought four cars. A person that helped Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman get into NASCAR told me I had to get on the asphalt and get in the ARCA series.

I think Hendrick Motorsports will be good and we know Joe Gibbs Racing will be good, but let’s not forget Ryan Newman, who won there last year.
