Mark Martin

Despite being the oldest full-time driver in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at 54, Mark Martin still is not slowing down. Martin is competing in a limited schedule with Michael Waltrip racing driving the No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota. Martin may be the best driver to never win a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship. He has come close during his 31 years in Sprint Cup Series competition, finishing runner-up in the standings on five different occasions (1990, ’94, ’98, 2002, ’09). Martin entered the 2013 season 17th on the all-time Sprint Cup Series wins list with 40 career victories.

Dale Earnhardt Sr. winning in a controversial late-caution finish against Mark Martin in 1993 is my favorite. While it’s not the most famous All-Star Race, it meant a lot to me. My father had just uprooted us from Chicago to move his ARCA & NASCAR teams to Concord, N.C., and it was the first All-Star Race I attended. That year of change holds a special place in my heart!
