Casey Mears

Casey Mears, the nephew of four-time Indianapolis 500 winner Rick Mears, has carried on the family tradition in NASCAR. Mears, driver of the No. 13 GEICO Ford for Germain Racing, enters his 11th season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Mears earned his first Sprint Cup Series victory during the 2007 Coca-Cola 500. He owns three poles in his career entering the 2013 season, including one at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2004.

We had a really fast car today and it was fun taking the #13 GEICO Ford Fusion straight to the front ... We raced really well and would have definitely had a shot at the win. The crash was unfortunate, but it’s part of racing here and also at Daytona. It’s extremely frustrating, but the team worked hard and never quit, which helped us get a decent finish in the end. Darlington is one of my favorite racetracks, so I’m excited to get there next week.
