Marco Andretti

Marco Andretti is the grandson of legendary Mario Andretti and son of former Indy-car great Michael Andretti. Driving the No. 25 Team RC Cola Chevrolet, he enters his eighth season in the IZOD IndyCar Series, all of which have come as a member of his father’s organization, Andretti Autosport. He was named the series rookie of the year in 2006, a season in which he recorded his first career victory at Sonoma. At that time, he was the youngest winner of a major open-wheel race at 19 years, 5 months and 14 days.

Ed Carpenter surprises to earn Indianapolis 500 pole position

Ryan Hunter-Reay of Andretti Autosport was second at 228.282 mph. Qualifying second was rookie Carlos Munoz at 228.342 mph while Andretti teammate Marco Andretti claimed the outside position of the front row after registering a lap average of 228.261 mph.
