  • Off The Track With Kurt Busch

    01/28/2010
Sporting News goes behind the scenes—and off the track—with 2004 Sprint Cup Series champion Kurt Busch. My first car was … a 1964 Volkswagen Bug. Me and my dad built it from scratch. We bought it for 500 bucks and tricked her out pretty cool. My dream car is … maybe a sporty-type Ferrari, but I haven’t quite found that one that jumps out at me. The best cruising music is … some classic rock, maybe some AC/DC mixed in with that. When I get a flat … I jump out and change it as fast as I can. The last time I used a GPS was … What’s a GPS? Hybrids are … something even more confusing than a GPS. My No. 1 car tip is … a clean car is a happy car. My No. 1 pet peeve with fellow motorists is … not merging correctly onto an interstate. I wouldn’t be caught dead in … a Kia. — As told to Reid Spencer, Sporting News NASCAR Wire Service

Inman: They’ve got specialists in just about every area of the racecar. When I started, I drove the truck, changed the tires, argued with NASCAR, argued with the driver.
