    Every offseason race fans see driver shakeups and new storylines to look forward to in the upcoming year. Typically, just one or two are of significance but 2014 will be quite different. In 2012, Danica Patrick was making the full-time move from INDYCAR to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with Stewart-Haas Racing. This past season, the prominent news was Matt Kenseth parting ways with Roush-Fenway Racing after 13 full-time seasons and a Cup title to Joe Gibbs Racing and the snubbed Joey Logano bouncing over to Penske Racing alongside defending Sprint Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski.

    It did not take long for Danica Patrick secure a historic milestone in her NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rookie season. Patrick, who already has the honor of being the first female to win a major, closed-course motorsports race with her victory at Japan’s Twin Ring Motegi in the IZOD IndyCar Series in 2008, made history yet again Sunday by becoming the first woman to win the pole for a race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

    IZOD IndyCar Series Driver James Hinchcliffe Enjoying Success With Andretti Autosport The end of the 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series season was bittersweet for driver James Hinchcliffe. He wrapped up his season with a rookie of the year title fueled by three top-five and seven top-10 finishes, but his team, Newman/Haas Racing, was closing its doors. Hinchcliffe was looking for a ride and hoping for a powerhouse sponsor.

    Millions of people will tune in to FOX next Sunday for the 54th running of the annual Daytona 500 and listen to Darrell Waltrip’s famous words “Boogity, boogity, boogity! Let’s go racin’, boys!” officially kick of the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. DW may have to tinker with his trademark opening as things will be a little different this go around with this race marking just the third time in NASCAR’s 65 years that a female is among the 43-driver field taking the green flag.
