FORT WORTH, Texas (Feb. 27, 2013) – Newly crowned Daytona 500 champion Jimmie Johnson has gotten little sleep since winning Sunday’s season-opening NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, but the blurry-eyed, five-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion showed why he remains one of the sport’s top ambassadors during Wednesday’s “Trip Down Victory Lane” luncheon at the House of Blues in Dallas.

FORT WORTH, Texas (Feb. 27, 2013) - The Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track will host one of the most accomplished fields for the Port-A-Cool ® Texas World Dirt Track Championship this weekend as 11 former Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track champions that have combined for 20 crowns will be kicking up dirt in the O’Reilly Auto Parts SUPR Late Model, Modified, and Limited Modified divisions.

This was it. The Daytona 500, the biggest stage in NASCAR to proudly show off the new Generation 6 car which brought with it sparkling reviews for bringing the stock back into stock car racing. Appearance wise, you were hard pressed to find a fan not impressed with how much Jimmie Johnson’s Chevrolet SS looked like the Chevy SS that was recently unveiled to the public and available to them later this year. Same was true for the Ford Fusion and Toyota Camry resembling the production models.

It did not take long for Danica Patrick secure a historic milestone in her NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rookie season. Patrick, who already has the honor of being the first female to win a major, closed-course motorsports race with her victory at Japan’s Twin Ring Motegi in the IZOD IndyCar Series in 2008, made history yet again Sunday by becoming the first woman to win the pole for a race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

For the first time in Texas Motor Speedway's history, all fans are invited to come watch the Daytona 500 at "The Great American Speedway!" as the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup season kicks off on Sunday, Feb. 24. Texas Motor Speedway will open the doors of The Speedway Club's Grand Ballroom overlooking the speedway where the room will feature two high-definition projector screens making it the most exciting place for fans to watch the Daytona 500 in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

Bacon and cotton candy sound like unlikely pairings for a flavorful treat, but Levy Restaurants and The Speedway Club at Texas Motor Speedway Executive Chef Joel Pena have proven otherwise. On Tuesday, Chef Pena combined the two and unveiled Texas Motor Speedway’s newest tasty treat, “Hawg Heaven Bacon Cotton Candy,” to the media at the NASCAR Sprint Media Tour hosted by Charlotte Motor Speedway.

On March 26, 1955, in Columbia, South Carolina, NASCAR driver Fonty Flock earned Chevrolet’s first manufacturer’s win. Fifty-seven years later, on Nov. 4, at Texas Motor Speedway, the most successful NASCAR manufacturer captured a milestone 700th victory when Jimmie Johnson piloted his No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet to a win in the AAA Texas 500.
