FORT WORTH, Texas (November 2, 2013) – Michael Waltrip Racing’s Clint Bowyer ran the fastest lap in the first of two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice sessions scheduled for Saturday in preparation for the AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.
Bowyer (No. 15 Sour Apple Extra Strength 5-Hour Energy Toyota), who qualified 26th for Sunday’s race, ran 18 laps in the 55-minute session and posted a top lap of 188.422 miles per hour. He was followed by Kyle Busch (No. 18 Snickers Toyota) at 188.350 mpg and Brad Keselowski (No. 2 Miller Lite Ford) at 188.107 mph.
Jimmie Johnson (No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet) and Matt Kenseth (No. 20 Home Depot Let’s Do This Toyota), tied for the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup championship, were sixth (187.578 mph) and 15th (186.929 mph), respectively.
The final NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice for the AAA Texas 500 will be a 50-minute session beginning at 1 p.m. CT. The AAA Texas 500, the eighth race in the 10-event Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, will be held Sunday, beginning at 2 p.m.
