FORT WORTH, Texas (November 1, 2013) – The recently completed State Highway 114 improvements and lane expansion in front of Texas Motor Speedway will further improve traffic flow throughout this weekend’s AAA Texas 500 NASCAR tripleheader weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.
State Highway 114 has been expanded from two lanes eastbound to four and from one or two lanes westbound to three in the key section of roadway directly in front of the speedway. The three intersections that feed into the speedway – Allison, Champions & Jarrett – have been widened to allow for a better turning radius to improve the flow in and out of the facility. The Labonte entrance currently is in a temporary state but will also be at full capacity. The entrance will be completed following the race week.
Traffic contraflow will be in effect for Friday evening’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series WinStar World Casino 350 (7:30 p.m. CT start), Saturday’s Nationwide Series O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge (2:30 p.m.) and Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series AAA Texas 500 (2 p.m.).
On Friday and Saturday, a “mini” contraflow plan will be in place with the pattern running on State Highway 114 from Interstate 35W to State Highway 156. On Sunday, the “mini” plan will be in place for inbound and a full contraflow for the outbound that extends from State Highway 114 in front of the speedway to Litsey Road in Roanoke and Highway 156 to Eagle Parkway.
For those who would like an alternative to driving, the T’s Victory Lane Express bus shuttles will be running round trip to Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday and Sunday. The express bus service, which is $10 cash per person round trip, will depart from the Tarrant County College Northwest Campus from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday for O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge and from 8-10 a.m. Sunday for the AAA Texas 500. Victory Lane Express riders may park free of charge in the North Parking Lot at The TCC Northwest Campus, 4801 Marine Creek Parkway.
Passengers will be dropped off and picked up in the speedway’s bus parking area located just off State Highway 114 and Allison Ave. on the south side of the speedway. Buses will return from Texas Motor Speedway beginning 30 minutes after the race ends, with the last bus leaving the speedway 90 minutes after the race.
