FORT WORTH, Texas (Aug. 5, 2013) – Rock band Of A Revolution, better known as O.A.R., will kick off the excitement of the eighth race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup as the group will headline the Rock The Ring Pre-Race Show leading up to the AAA Texas 500 on Sunday, Nov. 3, at Texas Motor Speedway.
O.A.R., who has sold more than two million albums since releasing its first album in 1997, will take the stage on the frontstretch at 12:20 p.m. CT and perform a free hour-long concert prior to the green flag for the AAA Texas 550 that is set for 2 p.m. CT.
O.A.R. has continued to grow its fan base since it began as a collection of high school students developing their unique sound in Rockville, Md., in 1996. The band, consisting of lead vocalist Marc Roberge, drummer Chris Culos, guitarist Richard On, bassist Benj Gershman and saxophonist Jerry DePizzo, has risen to stardom during the course of its career. O.A.R. has performed around the globe and its popularity is no more evident than having sold out New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden three times.
The group has produced a number of hits, including its popular 2008 single “Shattered,” which was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Other hits include “Love and Memories,” “Heard The World,” “Lay Down,” “This Town” and “Heaven.”
The NASCAR scene is nothing new for O.A.R., who previously performed during the 2008 Nationwide Series Awards Banquet in Orlando, Fla., and the NASCAR Rev’d Up fan event as part of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race activities in Charlotte, N.C., in 2009. The group has even appeared on a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car as then-Hendrick Motorsports driver Brian Vickers featured the band on the hood of his No. 25 Monte Carlo SS during the 2006 Chevy Rock & Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway.
The group’s integration into NASCAR has led them to become some of the biggest supporters of the sport. O.A.R. featured NASCAR’s most popular driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. in its 2004 hit music video, “Right On Time,” and its single “This Town” served as the theme music for NASCAR’s “My, Your, Our NASCAR” promotional commercial in 2009.
Texas Motor Speedway will have a $79 pre-race pass available that provides fans exclusive access stage-side for all the pre-race festivities leading up to the AAA Texas 500, including the concert and driver introductions. The ticket must be accompanied by a AAA Texas 500 grandstand ticket.
