Creating Family Traditions – Gift of Lights at Texas Motor Speedway

by TMS Media Relations | Nov 17, 2011
Gift of Lights at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, will be celebrating its first holiday season, lighting up the speedway from November 23 through January 1.

Children, and the young at heart, will be awed by the beautiful and whimsical drive-through light displays. Gift of Lights at Texas Motor Speedway is more than just a light show: It is a family holiday experience not to be missed.

Gift of Lights at Texas Motor Speedway is the newest family holiday destination in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and is sure to be a favorite this season. Families and visitors can drive the 1.7-mile route and experience sparkling holiday displays made with over 1 million energy-efficient LED lights, all within the comfort of their own cars.

Families will come from near and far to experience Gift of Lights at Texas Motor Speedway. It is indeed a premier family holiday destination, and 25,000 cars are expected to drive through this year, bringing in about 140,000 visitors.

The park will be open to visitors every night, including Christmas, from November 23 through January 1. Hours of operation are Sunday – Thursday, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Central Standard Time, and Friday and Saturday, 5:30 p.m. – 10 p.m. CST. The cost is $15 per vehicle from Monday through Thursday, and $20 per vehicle Friday through Sunday. The first 15,000 vehicles to drive through this season will receive a gift bag with holiday values from the event’s sponsors.

After success with previous light parks across the country, 3Dudes Productions and Winterland, Inc. have teamed together to create an extraordinary light display and family-fun event. The two companies were eager to join forces to bring a new Christmas event to the Dallas Fort-Worth area, hoping not only to entertain families this Christmas season, but also to create long-lasting memories and brand new traditions that families will enjoy for years to come.

David Fred, owner of Winterland, the Indiana-based company responsible for installing the lights, is pleased to provide such festive, affordable entertainment to families during the holidays.

“Light shows are the lowest-cost family entertainment available,” says Fred. “And it is entertainment.” He describes Winterland as “a happy business.”

“We deal with people who want to decorate,” he says. “Holiday decorations are ‘a want,’ not ‘a need.’ People are excited. It’s fun; it’s festive. Our customers are enthusiastic and upbeat.”

Gift of Lights at Texas Motor Speedway is a new Christmas tradition and a leading festive destination for families to celebrate the spirit of the holiday season. The park will be open November 23 through January 1, including Christmas Day.
