Carl Edwards is getting accustomed to visiting with the fans at Texas Motor Speedway.
Edwards, who started his celebratory trip to the grandstands following his victory last November in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge at TMS, visited the fans yet again with a win in Friday evening’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 for his second consecutive Nationwide Series victory at “The Great American Speedway!”
Unlike his victory last November, Edwards dominated the field as he started on the pole and led 169 of 200 laps. He became just the second Nationwide Series driver to win from the pole at Texas, joining Kyle Busch who accomplished the feat during last year’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 300.
“It was just a good day that ended up the way you wish every race day would,” Edwards said. “I tell you, the crowd at Texas is a little bit wild. I tried to go up there, and I couldn’t. There was an older woman who was holding me right there, and I wasn’t going anywhere.”
The win was the first for Ford in the new Nationwide Series car and the 30th career Nationwide Series win for Edwards. He became the fifth driver to win 30 or more races in the Nationwide Series and joins Mark Martin (49), Kyle Busch (46), Kevin Harvick (37) and Jack Ingram (31).
