Kahne Fastest In Final Sprint Cup Series Practice For Samsung Mobile 500

FORT WORTH, Texas (April 8, 2011) – Kasey Kahne, driver of the No. 4 Red Bull Toyota, posted the fastest lap during Friday’s final NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice session for the upcoming Samsung Mobile 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Kahne ran a fast lap of 183.899 miles per hour during the 45 laps he completed during the 90-minute practice session. He was followed closely by Paul Menard (No. 27 Quaker State/Menards Chevrolet) at 183.892 mph, Carl Edwards (No. 99 Scotts Ford) at 183.755 mpg, Kurt Busch (No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Dodge) at 183.692 mph and Regan Smith (No. 78 farmamerican.org Chevrolet) at 183.617 mph. Kahne, Edwards and Busch are all former Sprint Cup Series winners at Texas Motor Speedway.

Flower Mound’s David Starr (No. 95 Leavine Fenton Ford), the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series veteran looking to qualify for his first Cup race with newly formed Leavine Fenton Racing, ran 10 laps and was 36th (180.108 mph) out of 44 cars in the session.

Next up for the Sprint Cup Series drivers practice is The Dallas Morning News Qualifying Day at 5:40 p.m. CT. The defending polesitter is Tony Stewart (No. 14 Mobil 1/Office Depot Chevrolet), who was 12th in the final practice at 182.766 mph.
