It’s that time of year again! What is considered to be “the biggest day in world-wide motorsports” is approaching fast. The Indianapolis 500 takes places this Sunday. Did I mention that it is the race’s 100th anniversary? It’s going to be an epic day to say the least! To watch this exciting race, tune into ABC on Sunday, beginning at 10 AM CT.
The action at the Indy 500 never disappoints, and the same goes for this past weekend’s qualifying. Pole Day and Bump Day were full of both celebrations and shockers. Bump Day had its share of drama as Danica Patrick needed a solid four laps to get into the field and her Andretti Autosport teammate Marco Andretti was on the bubble most of the day. With less than a minute remaining in Bump Day, Andretti was bumped from the field and needed to go out to make the show. He did exactly that but it was not all celebration for Andretti Autosport team owner Michael Andretti as Marco bumped his own teammate Ryan Hunter-Reay from the 33-car field with that run. The big shocker was that the polesitter did not come from either of the super teams – Target Chip Ganassi or Penske. Alex Tagliani stole the show for Sam Schmidt Motorsports!
All the stars of the sport – Danica, Helio, Dario and more – will be here next for the Firestone Twin 275s IndyCar Series race at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday, June 11. Click here to get two frontstretch tickets for only $49!
