Matt Kenseth, winner of Sunday’s Daytona 500, set the race record for the winner’s furthest starting position by rolling off 39th in the race. Kenseth established the same record at Texas Motor Speedway in 2002 when he started 31st before winning the Samsung/RadioShack 500.
Kenseth is one of four different drivers to win in both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series at Texas Motor Speedway winning NNS races in 2004 and in the fall of 2007. Dale Earnhardt Jr., Mark Martin and Kasey Kahne are the other three drivers on the list.
