DARLINGTON, S.C. -- Mark Martin led a Hendrick Motorsports assault on Darlington Raceway, winning Saturday night's Southern 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race by 1.531 second over teammate Jimmie Johnson.
Grabbing the lead by staying out on old tires while other contenders pitted on Lap 321 of 367, Martin won for the second time this season and the 37th time in his Cup career, as cars owned by or affiliated with Hendrick Motorsports swept the top five finishing positions and six of the top seven.
