Four-time Sprint Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon has been “streaky” at Texas Motor Speedway this year.

Gordon’s victory in April’s Samsung 500 snapped a 47-race winless streak and during his return visit for last week’s Dickies 500 he extended a streak. He captured the Dickies 500 pole Friday – his first since, you guessed it, last year’s Dickies 500 – to extend the record of 17 consecutive seasons with at least one pole.

Fans can experience hospitality like never before prior to the Dickies 500 with a pass to the new Time Warner Cable Pit Stop Pavilion at the Village of Champions featuring an appearance by four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon.

With the running of last Saturday’s Coke Zero 400 at Daytona, the Sprint Cup season reached its halfway point. With that in mind, here’s our weekly breakdown of the top 12:
 
1. Tony Stewart, 2,719. Smoke has to be on top of the world. New team. Two wins, including an exciting victory Saturday night at Daytona. And first in the standings for the first time since 2005. The two previous times he was first, he went on to win a Cup championship. If the second half is anything like the first, he just might tie Jimmie Johnson as the most successful driver of the decade.

Kyle Busch held off Mark Martin and Brian Vickers in a drag race to the finish line to win the second of two Gatorade Duel 150 qualifying races Thursday at Daytona International Speedway.

Jeff Gordon beat Tony Stewart to the finish line in the first 60-lap Duel. It was Gordon’s fifth win in a Daytona qualifying race, tied for second in the modern era (since 1972).
