FORT WORTH, Texas (May 7, 2010) – For the IndyCar Series, the month of May often has meant a shift in focus to the sport’s biggest race – the Indianapolis 500. But with testing for the race not commencing until May 15, this year drivers took advantage of the break to prepare for the sport’s other marquee event – the Firestone 550k on June 5 – with an extensive test session at Texas Motor Speedway.

INDIANAPOLIS (April 13, 2010) - The Indy Racing League announced today appointments to its ICONIC (Innovative, Competitive, Open-Wheel, New, Industry-Relevant, Cost-Effective) IZOD IndyCar Series Advisory Committee.

Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage received numerous compliments from fans about the speedway’s unique format for the Bombardier Learjet 550k pre-race introductions with the IndyCar Series drivers. Rather than the traditional introduction on the stage, the IndyCar drivers come down the steps in 24 sections of the frontstretch grandstands.

NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal made his IndyCar Series debut Saturday night at Texas Motor Speedway. The 15-time all-star and Phoenix Suns center is serving as the Grand Marshal for the Bombardier Learjet 550k race at 8:30 p.m. tonight.

Dario Franchitti's "minor" adjustment after practice made all the difference during Friday's Bombardier Learjet 550k qualifying.

The setup change for Franchitti's No. 10 Energizer led him to the pole position for Saturday night's race. Franchitti, who earned his seventh career pole, earned a lap speed of 214.513 mph.
