FORT WORTH, Texas—In recent weeks, Jimmie Johnson has worn out the already threadbare phrase, “Anything can happen in our sport.”
 
On Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway, it finally did.

FORT WORTH, Texas (November 7, 2009) – Three-time defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion and current Chase points leader Jimmie Johnson (No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet) was the fastest during Saturday’s final practice for the Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

FORT WORTH, Texas (November 5, 2009) – Clint Bowyer (No. 33 Cheerios/Hamburger Helper Chevrolet) posted the fastest lap at 189.381 miles per hour in Friday’s 90-minute NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice session for the Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

FORT WORTH, Texas (Oct. 13, 2009) – Kyle Busch will take aim at history at Texas Motor Speedway during the Dickies 500 NASCAR triple-header weekend. Not only is he looking to become the first driver to win four consecutive NASCAR Nationwide Series races at TMS, but he will once again pull triple duty and try to become the first driver to sweep NASCAR’s three national series races during the Nov. 5-8 weekend.

Half of the 12-driver Chase field rebounded strongly this season after failing to make the Chase field a year ago while one driver – three-time defending Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson – has made the Chase every year since its inception in 2004.
