Carl Edwards has visited Victory Lane more than any other driver in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Texas Motor Speedway, but he has some catching up to do in the Nationwide Series.

FORT WORTH, Texas (October 8, 2009) – Carl Edwards has had the honor of firing off the Beretta Stampede six-shooters in Victory Lane to celebrate Sprint Cup Series wins at Texas Motor Speedway on three occasions, but exhibited on Thursday to speedway president Eddie Gossage that he can handle a firearm in competition as well.

Here’s a look at the top five in points and five drivers to watch in Sunday’s Lenox Industrial Tools 301. All statistical references are for Sprint Cup races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway unless otherwise indicated. Driver rating is based on the past eight races at the track.
 
1. Tony Stewart, 115.6 driver rating. Stewart has one win, two seconds and a third in his past eight starts at New Hampshire and has led a series-high 605 laps in that stretch. If Stewart is in sniffing distance of a win, expect him to be aggressive. He has nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Carl Edwards hasn't been himself this season but don't tell him.

Despite not posting a victory in six Sprint Cup Series races in 2009, Edwards contends he's doing just fine and isn't worried. When asked this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway why there hasn't been a sign of 2008 verison of Edwards, he fired back in disagreement.

FORT WORTH, Texas – If anyone knows how to win at Texas, it is Carl Edwards – a three-time winner at TMS buoyed by an unprecedented season sweep of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at “The Great American Speedway!” last season.

Next month’s Samsung 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series purse establishes a new record at Texas Motor Speedway with the posted awards set at $7,384,649 – up $47,783 from the 2008 race purse.
