Mustangs Power Stockton, Painter To Titles At Opening Night Of Scion Drag-N-Brag

FORT WORTH, Texas (July 3, 2009) – Two hundred racers converged on Texas Motor Speedway for Friday’s opening night of its six-week Scion “Drag-n-Brag” program with four weekly division champions being crowned.

The mid-1960s Ford Mustang was the dominant car of the evening as the model captured two of the weekly titles. Scotty Stockton, of Flower Mound, drove a 1965 Ford Mustang to victory in the Street Outlaw Division while Michael Painter, of Sanger, took the honors in the Sportsman Division with the 1966 edition.

The other two division winners were Alan Hill, of Grandview, and Matt Floris, of Watauga. Hill won the ATI Success Driven Tuner Division with a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and Floris captured the Street Bandits Division with a Plymouth Neon.

The second week of Scion “Drag-n-Brag” is set for next Friday, with the gates opening at 6 p.m. and racing getting underway at 9 p.m.

Yea, I like how yall had all these "stock non engine modified" cars in the sportsman class, specialy the one purging his nitrous,  Nothing against Michael Painter, but shoudn't that car be in the outlaw class? I mean, skinnies, racing seats and rollcage? come on now, unless I missed something, but I didn't know "stock" 1966 mustangs were that fast. Im not upset because I lossed, Im not even in that class because apparenty my daily driven Dodge magnum is a "big outlaw car" because it has a little shot of nitrous. I just know if I get put in the same class next week thats it for me.

Yea, its kind of funny how I have a stock 03 Cobra engine & stock supercharger in my Mustang, but I was put in the Outlaw class just because I was running slicks. I had fun tho.

I had a good run with that white Magnum in the Outlaw class!!!

ya I think they need a lil more inspections, cause in the Tuner division, The Evos's came stock with turbos, but the ones at the track had two times the size of turbo than stock. not fair for the non forced air cars.

Well just say the sorting  vehicles to the appropriate divisions was just sort what you call messed up.

but

Congratulations to the winners, heck congrats to all the participants. It took a lot of driving to make it down the track themselves or beside someone that was hunting for traction.

Good night at the track is any night you don't have call a wrecker to get home. :)

Yea it  was  fun  running  you  Adler..... I thought I was going  to get  tore up,  all  though you did hand  it  to me at  the  end,  that  thing looked  like a  beast.  Over all I had a good time, it  was something different.......will see how next week goes.

The classes are messed up, Even Atlanta had a truck class, how the hell does Texas the home of trucks, not have a truck class.. All in all though, this event was ran much smoother than Atlanta did theirs.  It was a blast. And Randy, I will have a problem with it if they stick you in outlaw again. That is 100% bullshit with what I saw over in sportsman.

I don't know.. might need to slap a big twin screw blower on there the to be halfway competitive in that "stock" sportsman's class :)  but they might only allow Kenne Bell conversions on fords trucks :(

Yep for those don't know there is a brag N drag forum that is better suited for suggestions and discussion than under this article.

On 57 Chevy from my understanding most likely, unless it running a really wide drag slick, it would either be placed in sportsman or outlaw class.

Anyway you can better discuss specifics like that over here:
