Terry Phillips won the A Qualifier in the Modified class Friday night at the Texas World Dirt Championships at Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track. He will start at the front of the field on Saturday evening for the A Main.  The top 8 positions in the A Qualifier automatically advance to the A Main Saturday night for the championship.  Shane Herbert won the A Qualifier for the Limited Modified class.

FORT WORTH, Texas (February 25, 2009) – The Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track is expecting one of the largest fields in the venue’s history for this weekend’s Texas World Dirt Track Championship featuring the Southern United Professional Racing (SUPR) Late Model, Modified and Limited Modified divisions.

Legendary rock bank Foreigner, known for its chart-topping hits during the 1970s and ‘80s, will headline the Amdro Fire Ant Bait Pre-Race show Sunday, April 5 prior to the Samsung 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.

Texas Motor Speedway Media Day will feature Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman and Colin Braun of NASCAR along with Danica Patrick, Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti of the IndyCar Series for the annual media kick-off luncheon in the Speedway Club’s Texas Grand Ballroom. The webcast will begin at approximately 12:05 p.m. CT and the 90-minute segment will feature TMS President Eddie Gossage’s state-of-the-sport address, Patrick, Dixon and Franchitti via satellite from an IndyCar test session in Homestead, Fla. and an on-stage Q&A session with Stewart, Newman and Braun.

FORT WORTH, Texas (February 20, 2009) – The No. 18 Interstate Batteries car cruised around Texas Motor Speedway today, but it wasn’t on the 1.5-mile track. The newly decaled NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car took its original spot back into the middle of the Texas Motor Speedway Lake beside the Indy car and NASCAR truck.

Reigning IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon, who also won the Bombardier Learjet 550k at Texas Motor Speedway last year, is among five New Zealand race car/motorcycle drivers featured in a New Zealand Champions of World Motorsport stamp series released this week by New Zealand Post.

Speedway Club members are invited to take a break next Tuesday to celebrate Mardi Gras with a special New Orleans-themed lunch.

Jeff Burton, driver of the No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet Impala SS in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, will trade in his fire suit and helmet for an acting role on ABC Daytime’s “General Hospital.”
